Bell & Howell 1574c projector page
6-21-25: I've been thinking of exploring motion picture photography also. Hoping to buy, borrow or rent ancient 16mm films to watch, or maybe host a movie night once in a while for other old farts who miss the old days, trying to hear the sound track over the chattering projector. The ancient theater I frequented, more of a temple to Hollywood's glory days, would show movies all night for a few bucks. As an AV Geek since school, I enjoyed hanging out in the projection room, watching struggling students fight with ancient projectors during manual reel changes and film breaks. 35mm equipment is way beyond my means, but Goodwill sold me this wonderful Bell & Howell 1574c projector for $7.99 plus freight. This is the fractured worm gear they all suffer from by now. The aluminum replcement will take me days to install, even with the YouTube video. The motor drive belt is also stretched out and needs replacement. Old projectors are like old cars.
